Perfume Longevity And Aging
I am entering formation to become a religious sister—so I spend a lot of time at church. This fragrance is spot on (though my Sunday solemn Mass uses a less frankincense heavy incense) to my favorite church, which was built in the 1850s and still has the heavy wooden pews original to the building. After Mass, this is the scent that lingers in the church, like incense on your clothes when you sit in the front and the altar boy is feeling the censer swinging a little too much, with almost beeswax-y undertones and faint candle smoke, and while I can’t identify the moss I definitely get a whiff of the wine after the initial incense scent settles after application. (And whew, somebody remind Father that Communion wine needs to be under 16%, even if he is diluting it in the Eucharist.) Every time I try to put on another perfume—even my other Black Baccara scents—I still keep wishing I was wearing Midnight Mass instead. It’s such a comforting scent to me, like being wrapped in a hug.
In short: yes, this Mass-themed perfume has the approval of a (future) Catholic nun.
This is such a sweet, innocent fragrance. The opening reminds me of the doll version of Strawberry Shortcake. It smells almost exactly like that doll did; soft, sweet vanilla tinged strawberries. As it ages I get a very quick whiff of pink lemonade in the background, before frosting mellows the scent again. It finishes a very soft, sweet fresh strawberry scent. I love this scent so much, its comforting in a way I would not have expected.
Among the whole Vampire Romance set this was my favourite, and i had to get it. It's cold and salty, and wet, and in my mind's eye it's a scent of falling down marble stairs and bleeding on the cold floor. Dramatic.
I've been using this for years now, its my favorite, so romantic and mystical. I think the name of this fragrance captures its essence perfectly, it smells like love in otherworldly realms. Its a sensual, sexy, dark fragrance, but not spicy or sweet or overpowering. It dries down to be powdery and there is a specific sexy sweetness to it, the lingering subtle honey on skin when it dries down. Its like wearing beautiful lingerie and sitting on a leather chair and breathing in the scent of of dusty full bloom roses and smoke. Reminds me of twilight zones, HIM's Love Metal album, leather and lace, Anne Rice books. Its what you would want your skin to smell like when a vampire nuzzles your neck. It doesn't smell like before or after sex, but rather the in-between state of seduction where time doesn't exist. Its so unique that you can wear it any season of year, day or night, the perfume fits more a hopeless romantic mysterious soul rather than season, time or place. I feel myself the most when I wear this fragrance and my friends have commented on it. If you are a 90's goth, you will love this one, Vampire Romance smells sophisticated and elegant, as we goths are all grown up, I am 33 years old. Its like aged wine, it allows you to be true to your goth self without smelling like a teenager. Reminds me of the 90s and early 2000s vampire culture but more luxurious. Thank you!
I just received my 90's goth perfume and am so in love with it. It reminds me of my youth being a goth. I lived in Dubai, the UAE with 0 gothic culture, we were only a handful of goths at that time, I am much older now but and am always searching for something to capture the vibes I have created for myself in the late 90s, the smell of candles, watching The Craft, reading Anne Rice books. This fragrance really captures the waxy smell of black lipsticks, the cloves that remind me of Halloween sweets (I did not smoke clove cigarettes), the leather of my Dr. Martins and violets that remind me of Tim Burton's characters. Its a simple but also complex and unique smell that is really nostalgic for older goths. I also received a Raspberry tea bag which I thought was so cute, I always appreciate the attention to detail, cute packaging, and the small gifts (I have received sample perfumes before). I'm gonna wear my new perfume, have my raspberry tea and watch Corpse Bride later on <3 Thank you wholeheartly for your beautiful creations
I have purchased from Black Baccara many times, and every single time they amaze me. The scents are all incredible. Complex, elegant, magickal.
I can’t wait for my next order.
I love this place so much for so many goth scents, and this is definitely one of my favorites of the ones I've tried so far. Finding this place has reawakened a desire to collect perfume and to use different scents for seasons/occasions as a way to be mindful. Right out of the bottle, I smell a strong scent like red lifesaver gummies and the metallic scent that definitely makes you think of blood, but in a very pleasant way. I never thought I would be into the smell of blood, but the artist is clearly so talented with making complex scent combinations. This one dries on me with a velvety red smell that I think is the merlot or roses, but it's not powdery at all.
I love snow so much, and this is such a wonderful winter scent that evokes snow in a forest with frozen fruit on pine trees. I have never smelled perfumes before that are so unique. Out of the bottle, I smell a strong icy pine/peppermint with fruit right after, and it dries on my skin in a wonderful icy fruit scent. I'm so excited to have this as my winter scent.
This literally smells like church during Chistmas midnight mass, which has been a tradition in my family since I was a child. It’s like I’m inside the little silver incense ball. Can also smell wooden pews and lit candles. If you like church incense, this is a must try.
This is literally like if you took the season of autumn and bottled it up. It reminds me of that scene from The Night Circus where Bailey is opening up the magical bottles from Widget’s tent and he says one of them smells like fall. I can actually smell every single note that was in the description.
This is one of my favorite perfumes from Black Baccara; it's like a Pacific Northwest seaweedy tidepool. I can't get enough of it.
This is just a truly unique and beautiful fragrance. I would have never imagined tuberose and banana together but they are something special here. The “carnival winds” note is what really amazed me. It’s there in the background, sort of like funnel cakes or churros ever so slightly coming through. Everything from this house is so unique and magic.
I just received, and absolutely love my Wild Lilac perfume oil. Lilac is far and away my favourite scent, and it has been captured perfectly so I can recapture the feelings it conjures in me any time, because lilac season is so fleeting. I also have wonderful memories of a big lilac bush beside my childhood home, and this perfume brings that all back in an instant.
What the what is happening with this scent!!??! If this doesn’t make you put on your Bauhaus albums and blare Bela Lugosi’s Dead at full volume there is something wrong with you!! This is the first scent that I have purchased and when I saw it I knew I had to have it. This truly embodies my late teens and early 20’s hanging at the goth club in downtown Detroit and shopping at Noir Leather. So unique and just like the other reviews state the smell of lipstick jumped out at me right away in a good way!!! I have never smelled anything like it. A must have for any 90’s goth kid 🖤
This is a dark, powerful oil. It has a deep , smoky, somewhat floral scent on the skin. It is unlike anything I have ever worn or smelled before. This is one I prefer to wear at night or when I need to remember that I am a strong woman that can kick a$$. It has become one of my favorites.
